Christian Barbieri graduated in just three years from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. During his collegiate career, he was named captain of the team and earned First Team All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles in 2017 and 2018, was named Conference Player of the Year in 2017, and became a two-time All-American at the NAIA level. Barbieri is considered one of the top-performing players in the history of the William Woods University tennis program.
Playing primarily at the No. 1 singles position, Barbieri helped lead the team to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship in back-to-back seasons. Individually, he ranked among the top 20 players in the nation in both singles and doubles from his sophomore through senior year.
Barbieri began playing tennis at a young age and developed his game as a junior at the Blegino Tennis Academy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During his junior career, he ranked among the top 15 players in South America and had the opportunity to practice with ATP players ranked inside the Top 50 in the world, gaining valuable experience competing at a high level.
"Christian understands and see's the game at a very high level," Drake head coach Justin Stuckey explained. "His commitment to seeing our players improve on court and practice with intensity has been a benefit to all of our players."
