Drake University Athletics

Kira Howells was hired at Drake as a member of the athletic training staff in February 2026.

Howells moved to Des Moines after a short stint at Illinois State on the Redbirds' sports medicine team.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa in 2023. Howells then her Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 2025. While at Iowa, she assisted with football athletic training during the 2024-25 season and spent additional clinic time with UI Athletics and UI Hospitals and Clinics.
