Matthew West was hired to Drake's athletic training staff in 2026.
He came to Des Moines after a year as a Resident Athletic Trainier at Syracuse University in upstate New York. While at Syracuse, West worked with the men's lacrosse team and Orange spirit squad.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Central College before getting his Master of Science in Athletic Training at the University of Iowa. While at Central, Matthew was a 4-year letter winner on the Dutch men's soccer team.
West was born and raised in the Des Moines metro area and attended high school at Southeast Polk.
