DES MOINES, IOWA ? Making a strong impression in her first game action since a foot injury ended her season after six games a year ago, redshirt sophomore Jordann Plummer (St. Louis. Mo./Cardinal Ritter) sparked Drake with a team-best seven points and four rebounds in the Bulldogs' intra-squad scrimmage on Sunday (Oct. 21) in the Knapp Center.
Senior Jill Martin (Norwalk, Iowa/Norwalk) gave a strong effort in her return from season-ending back surgery last season with six points, while distributing a team-high three assists.
Plummer recorded Drake's lone three-pointer in the affair as she finished the game 3-of-4 from the field. Martin and fellow senior Lindsay Whorton (Independence, Mo./Truman) each pulled down three rebounds, including two offensive caroms by Whorton.
Whorton finished the contest with six points, while juniors Ashleigh Brady (Lubbock, Texas/Frenship), Lauren Dybing (Bloomington, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) and Kelsey Keizer (Arnolds Park, Iowa/Okoboji) chipped in four, four and two points, respectively.
The Bulldogs connected on 35.2 percent of their shots from the field and pulled down 13 rebounds in the 20-minute affair.
Drake now shifts its attention towards its lone exhibition contest on Nov. 1 versus Quincy. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Bulldogs open their 2007-08 campaign on Nov. 9 as they host 2007 NCAA Tournament participant Green Bay at 7:05 p.m. Drake's 2007 NCAA Tournament banner will be raised to the Knapp Center rafters in a pre-game ceremony.
