OMAHA, NEB. ? The 2007 volleyball campaign came to an end for Drake on Friday (Nov. 16) as Creighton registered a .357 hitting percentage en route to a 3-1 (28-30, 30-12, 30-22, 30-18) triumph over the Bulldogs.
Drake concludes its season at 7-23 overall and 4-14 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while the Bluejays improved their ledger to 20-9, including 14-4 in conference competition.
In a balanced first game, which saw 21 and 20 kills, respectively from the Bulldogs and Creighton, it was Drake coming away with a 30-28 victory.
The Bluejays were not to be denied from that point forward as Creighton posted 30-12, 30-22 and 30-18 wins in the final three stanzas to notch the decision.
Coming into the match needing 18 kills to become Drake's all-time single-season leader in kills, freshman
Angela Bys (Marion, Iowa/Marion) accomplished the feat after an 18-kill, 11-dig effort for her seventh double-double of the season. She also finished the year with 1,265 attack attempts, good for second place all-time in a single season.
Playing in her final match as a Bulldog, senior
Samantha Nelson (Ceresco, Neb./Raymond Central) chipped in with 11 kills and a team-high three blocks. With her two blocks assists, Nelson concluded her Drake career with 375 block assists, a number good for third all-time. Fellow senior
Sarah Schuster (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) added 19 assists to finish with 1,730 for her Bulldog career, good for the fifth-best mark all-time.

Chelsea Lauersdorf (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) led Drake with 24 assists, while the Bulldogs garnered 22, 12, 11 and 11 digs, respectively from freshman A

The Bluejays attacked the ball at a .357 clip, while limiting the Bulldog attack to a .105 hitting percentage.
Creighton bettered Drake in kills (68-55), assists (63-49), service aces (7-1) digs (81-72) and blocks (14.0-4.0).
