PEORIA, ILL. - The Drake women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three consecutive matches as the Bulldogs captured a 7-0 road victory over Bradley on Friday (April 20).
The win pushed Drake's ledger to 9-11 overall and 4-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while the Braves dropped their 13th straight match and now stand at 6-15 on the campaign, including 0-6 in league competition.
The Bulldogs swept the doubles competition to assume a lead they never relinquished. Drake received 8-4, 8-2 and 8-0 victories at the Nos. 1-3 positions, respectively to secure the doubles point.
Sophomore
Veronika Leszayova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovak Republic) improved to 4-2 in MVC play as she posted a 7-5, 6-0 triumph versus Elise Montrose at No. 1 singles.
Registering her team-leading 16th singles win was senior Eve Rusdianto (Surabaya, Indonesia), who bettered Emily Regenold, 6-2, 6-3, at the second singes hole.
The Bulldogs also garnered wins at the bottom three singles positions. Sophomore
Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) defeated Kelly Donohue at No. 4, 6-3, 6-2, while junior Allison Wilkie (Omaha, Neb.) bettered Jessica Buterbaugh by a score of 7-5, 6-3 at the fifth singles slot.
Junior Daria Zawislak (Gdansk, Poland) made the most of her appearance in the line-up as she improved to 7-1 on the season with a 6-3, 6-4 decision versus Kim Braun at No. 6.
Drake continues it road swing on Saturday (April 21) as the Bulldogs tangle with Indiana State at 11:00 a.m.
