Matt Kuhn (Raytown, Mo.) inside the box to score the winning goal for the Drake men's soccer team in the 104th minute (103:27) allowing the Bulldogs to beat Oral Roberts, 3-2, Friday night at the Cownie Soccer Complex.
“It was especially nice for Garrett to get the goal because he takes so much punishment up top and works very hard,” said Drake head coach
Sean Holmes.
Kuhn scored the Bulldogs first goal in the 33rd minute (32:11) in traffic inside the box.
Freshman
Michael Noonan (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) took the 2-1 advantage for Drake scoring its second goal in the 47th minute (46:03) off a rebound of
Luke Frieberg's (Norwalk, Iowa) shot which was deflected by Golden Eagles' goalkeeper Andrew Techanchuk.
“Last week in Las Vegas the freshmen, for the first time all season, started to look like freshmen, it is hard for them to compete at a high level twice in a weekend. Tonight was freshmen night,” said Holmes.
Juan Chang recorded Oral Robert's first goal in the 29th minute (28:30). ORU's Migel Peralta tied the match at 2-2 in the 60th minute (59:53) when he scored a goal to the far post.
Drake outshot the Golden Eagles, 13-5, taking nine shots on goal.
The Bulldogs tied a five-year-old school record taking nine corner kicks in the first frame. Drake took 10 overall in the match.
“I thought we were very good in the first half hour of the game and we managed to turn that into 0-1 deficit. That game was kind of the same game we lost last weekend. We knew after we had the six game road trip we would finish the season with six home games and four away games we intend to take advantage of that,” concluded Holmes.
Webb led he Bulldogs attack, taking thee shots with two falling on goal.

Luke Gorczyca (Overland Park, Kan.) and Frieberg each chipped in two shots.
Drake returns to action on Sunday facing Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. at the Cownie Soccer Complex.
