DES MOINES, IOWA ? Senior Daria Zawislak (Gdansk, Poland) held serve for the Bulldogs seeking a women's tennis victory over Iowa State on Friday (Feb. 29) at the Drake Tennis Center but Reka Keleman battled back to earn a 7-6 (4), 1-6, 7-6 (7) win at the No. 6 singles position to give the Cyclones a 4-3 triumph versus Drake.

The setback dropped the Bulldogs to 2-5 on the campaign, while propelling Iowa State to 3-2 overall.

Traiiling 2-0, junior Veronika Leszayova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovak Republic) cut the deficit to 2-1, with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Erin Karonis at the top singles slot.

Freshman Adela Aprodu (Hamilton, Ontario) followed by squaring the tilt at two, bettering Alyssa Palen at the No. 2 position, 6-1, 6-1.

Iowa State pushed back ahead on the strength of Caitlin Loprinzi dealing junior Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) a 7-5, 6-0 setback at the fifth singles slot.

It took three sets but senior Irina Kalashnikova (Sochi, Russia) pulled out a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 triumph against Chrissy Derouin at No. 3 to even the match and turn all eyes to the sixth singles position.

The Bulldogs return to the court on Sunday (March 2) as Drake welcomes UIC to the Drake Tennis Center at 10:00 a.m.
