DES MOINES, IOWA ? Senior Daria Zawislak (Gdansk, Poland) won her seventh singles contest in her last 10 outings, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs suffered a 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference setback to Illinois State on Saturday (April 5) at the Drake Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs dropped to 7-12 on the year, including 1-3 in the MVC, while Illinois State improved its ledger to 10-8 overall and 4-1 in league play.
In doubles, the tandem of senior Irina Kalashnikova (Sochi, Russia) and junior Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) remained undefeated in league play (4-0) registering an 8-5 victory over Julia Zubkova and Carolyne Parent at the second doubles slot.
In singles, Zawislak notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory versus Parent at the No. 4 position.
The Bulldogs conclude their home schedule on Sunday (April 6) as Drake entertains Bradley at 10:00 a.m. The match will mark the final home performances for seniors Kalashnikova and Zawislak.
