AMES, IOWA - The Drake women's tennis team came up short in its season-opening contest at Iowa State on Friday (Jan. 23) as the Cyclones bested the Bulldogs, 6-1.
The loss dropped Drake to 0-1 on the campaign, while lifting Iowa State to 1-0.
The Cyclones swept all three doubles tilts to assume a lead they didn't relinquish.
The Bulldogs garnered their lone point in the affair at the No. 2 singles hole where freshman
Gabby Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) won a three-set match over Tessa Lang, 7-6 (5), 1-6, 7-6 (2).
Drake has little time to reflect on the setback as the Bulldogs travel to face Minnesota on Saturday (Jan. 24) in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
