ROCHESTER, MINN. - The Drake women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 63 Minnesota on Saturday (Jan. 24).
The setback moved the Bulldogs to 0-2 on the campaign, while the Golden Gophers won their season opener to improve to 1-0 on the season.
Drake's best opportunity to stake claim to a victory came at the No. 2 singles position where freshman
Gabby Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) fell 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker to Karina Chiarelli en route to falling, 3-6, 6-3, 8-9 (9).
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Jan. 31) as Drake travels to face Kansas State in an 11:00 a.m. tilt.
