LAWRENCE, KAN. ? Encountering a ranked team for the second time on the young season, the Drake women's tennis team wasn't able to unravel No. 75 Kansas as the Jayhawks netted a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs on Sunday (Feb. 1).
The win propelled Kansas to 2-0 on the campaign, while dropping Drake to 0-4.
The Jayhawks assumed the early lead sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Senior 
Veronika Leszayova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovak Republic) garnered her first win of the spring at the top singles hole posting a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ekaterina Morozya.
Freshman 
Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.) accounted for Drake's other triumph registering a 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory versus Alessandra Dzuba at the No. 6 slot.
Senior 
Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) nearly collected her initial triumph of the spring as she dropped a 6-3, 1-6, 4-6 decision against Erin Wilbert at the fifth singles slot.
Drake returns to the court on Saturday as the Bulldogs travel to Lincoln, Neb., for a 4:00 p.m. encounter with Wyoming.
