KANSAS CITY, MO. - The Drake women's tennis team rolled to its second victory of the season as the Bulldogs collected a 7-0 triumph over UMKC on Saturday (Feb. 14)

The victory improved Drake's record to 2-5 on the year, while dropping UMKC to 0-5.

Drake garnered the doubles point on the strength of victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions.  The tandem of seniors Veronika Leszayova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovak Republic) and Sarah Plowman (Halifax, Nova Scotia) earned an 8-3 decision at the No. 2 slot versus Jessica Ball and Katherine Rist.  At the No. 3 hole, the duo of freshmen Morgan Rainey (Kansas City, Mo.) and Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) posted an identical 8-3 victory over Daniela Amelunge and Jillian Yakomoninich.

The Bulldogs swept all six singles contests, with only the No. 3 tilt between Aguilera and Chelsea Horner being extended to a third set.  Aguilera notched a 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory over Horner.

Contributing wins at the Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 slots for Drake was Leszayova, freshman Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.), Rainey, senior Kari Sloboth (Omaha, Neb.) and freshman Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.).

The Bulldogs return to action later this afternoon as Drake faces Rockhurst in a 4:00 p.m. match.
