The Drake University cheerleading squad is one of the most dedicated student groups on campus. The season starts the first practice of the summer to prepare the team for camp and extends through the last basketball game of the season.
Members of the squad are expected to be leaders of the Drake University student body, both on-and-off the field. Being a Drake Cheerleader requires a great deal of mental and physical strength, as well as a large time commitment to be a part of the program. The program's primary mission is to support Bulldog Athletics and promote crowd involvement and support at Bulldog athletic events.
Drake currently has an all-girl squad with 19 team members. The girls cheer for football, women's basketball, and men's basketball. They also perform at many events in the community.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A DRAKE CHEERLEADER?
As a Drake Cheerleader, you are expected to show your Drake Spirit at all home football and basketball games. The cheer team practices several nights a week; and just like Drake student athletes, are required to attend strength training sessions each week.
Each year, some Drake Cheer Team members are awarded book scholarships. A limited number of scholarships are available, and are distributed by the coaching staff based on merit and dedication. For more information on cheer scholarships, contact the cheer team coordinator listed below.
INTERESTED IN JOINING THE DRAKE CHEER TEAM?
There are two steps to becoming a cheerleader at Drake. First, you must complete the online questionnaire.

The second step is participating in tryouts, which are held each spring (upperclassmen) and early each summer (incoming freshman). This will not interfere with summer orientation session 3.
Who do I contact?
Please email Coach Fallon Parker at fallon.parker@gmail.com for a tryout packet. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
