NORMAL, ILL. - The Drake women's tennis team came up short in its attempt at the Bulldogs' fifth Missouri Valley Conference victory as Illinois State registered a 6-1 decision on Sunday (April 12).

Drake saw its ledger drop to 10-10 overall and 4-2 in the MVC with the setback, while the Redbirds pushed their record to 12-8, including 4-2 in league competition.

Freshman Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) earned the lone victory for the Bulldogs in the affair downing Natalia Lech at the No. 2 position, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4.

Drake returns to action on Saturday (April 18) hosting Creighton in a 1:00 p.m. matinee affair at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
