Women's Soccer Hosts Second Annual Faculty Appreciation Night

DES MOINES, IOWA - The Drake women's soccer team held its second annual faculty appreciation night prior to its 1-0 victory South Dakota on Thursday (Sept. 30) at the Cownie Soccer Complex.

Each Bulldog nominated a Drake faculty members who have positively impacted their student-athlete experience and 13 individuals were recognized in a pregame ceremony.

Those honored included; Kelly Everling - assistant professor of journalism, Lisa Grulke - laboratory assistant, biology, Sarah Hogan - visiting assistant professor of English, Karen Leroux - assistant professor of history, Rick Long - assistant professor, finance, Gholam Mirafzal - associate professor of chemistry, Joanna Mosse - assistant professor of politics, Richard Tapscott - visiting professional, Jenny Tran - director of student programs, pharmacy and health sciences, Amy Vaughan - assistant professor of practice in statistics, Heath Weeks - laboratory assistant, biology and Tom Westbrook - professor of education.

"Our players get a unique academic experience here at Drake," Bulldog head coach Lindsey Horner commented.  "For these faculty members to take time out of their busy schedules to come and join us at Cownie demonstrates their dedication to their students and the university.  I continue to be surprised by the positive relationships that our student-athletes have with their professors.  They enhance the student-athlete experience and for that we are grateful."
