DES MOINES, IOWA -- Sophomore forward
Jordan Clarke (Rockville, Md.) scored seven points to pace the Drake men's basketball Blue team to a 28-20 victory past the White squad in a 16-minute scrimmage at the True Blue Debut at the Knapp Center Thursday night.
It was the first public appearance for the Bulldogs who will play host to Wisconsin-Parkside in an exhibition game Nov. 6.
"I thought we did some good things," said third-year Drake head coach
Mark Phelps. "It was good playing in front of a crowd."
Sophomore forward
Aaron Hawley (Rogers, Ark.) led both teams with 12 points, including two three-point baskets.
With eight different players scoring, the Blue team enjoyed a 19-4 lead after the first period.
Freshman guard
Rayvonte Rice (Champaign, Ill.), sophomore forward
Ben Simons (Cadillac, Mich.) and junior
Kurt Alexander (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) played for the Blue team in the first period before switching to the White team in the second period.
Senior guard
Ryan Wedel (Minneapolis, Kan.) added six points for the Blue team. Rice had five points.
Sophomore forward
Reece Uhlenhopp (Urbandale, Iowa) grabbed a game-high four rebounds.
Drake opens the regular season Nov. 13 entertaining Texas Southern.
"We will make progress each day and be ready for the season opener," Phelps added.
