DES MOINES, IOWA - The Drake women's tennis completed a weekend sweep
to extend its winning streak to five in a row following the Bulldogs' 6-1
victory over Chicago State on Sunday (Feb. 28) at the Roger Knapp Tennis
Center.
Drake claimed the doubles point
registering triumphs at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions, while the Cougars defaulted
at No. 3.
In singles, junior Jessica Labarte's (Barcelona,
Venezuela) 6-2, 6-2 victory over Peggy Moore on court No. 5 secured the
decision for Drake.
The Bulldogs also garnered wins in
singles action from freshman Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia) and sophomores Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.), Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) and Earlynn Lauer (Wichita, Kan.) at the Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 6 slots, respectively.
Drake
has the next two weeks off from competition before its spring break trip to
North Carolina where the Bulldogs will battle UNC Wilmington (March 15), East
Carolina (March 16) and UNC Greensboro (March 17).
