OMAHA, NEB. - Freshman Manca Krizman's (Solkan, Slovenia) victory at the top singles position lifted the Drake women's tennis team to a 4-3 Missouri Valley Conference victory over Creighton on Saturday (April 3) to snap the Bluejays' nine-match winning streak.

The Bulldogs found themselves in a hole after coming up short in two of the three doubles contests to drop the point.  Drake's lone victory was courtesy of an 8-2 decision by Krizman and sophomore Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) at the No. 1 doubles slot versus Sarah and Leesa Cadwallader.

Drake stormed back in singles earning wins at the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 holes to assume a 3-1 lead.

Demos bested Anna Kirshenbaum at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2, before sophomore Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) downed Lauren Mastro at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2.

Junior Jessica Labarte (Barcelona, Venezuela) registered a 6-3, 6-1 win against Kelsey Schmidt at No. 4.

Creighton squared the affair with triumphs on the Nos. 5 and 6 courts before Krizman pulled out a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Tess Reddin to secure the win.

Drake concludes its weekend road swing at Wichita State on Sunday (April 4).  Match time is slated for 10:00 a.m.
