COLUMBUS, IND. -- Drake senior
Olivia Lansing (Dellwood, Minn.) shot an eight-over-par 80 to tie for 66th overall on the final day of the NCAA Women's Central Regional Golf Tournament Saturday. Lansing posted a 79-82-80=241 total.
Named the 2009 and 2010 Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year, Lansing collected a pair of birdies in her final round.
She sank a one-foot putt on the par-three, 151-yard No. 13 hole and then made a 25-foot putt on the par-three, 165-yard No. 15 hole.
Lansing played all 54 holes of the tournament with Missouri's Julia Potter and Ashley Bauer of Michigan. They were the lone three individuals selected to play in the regional along with 24 teams.
"I was a little off my game all weekend," said Lansing. "But it was a huge honor to be one of nine individuals nationwide out of 1,500 golfers to be selected to compete in the regionals.
"This was, hands down, the hardest college tournament I've played in. It was similar to a U.S. Women's Amateur," added Lansing, who played in 2008 and 2009 U.S. Women's Amateur.
One hundred twenty-three golfers competed with Kent State's Martina Gavier capturing individual honors with a 72-75-72=219 at the par-72, 6,417 yard Otter Creek Golf Club.
