FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fueled by a pair of 78's
from sophomore Hadley Jennings
(Trenton, Mo.) and junior Chelsey Falk
(Glenwood, Minn.), the Drake women's golf team fired a final-round 320 to
finish 12th at the Pat Bradley Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 25) at the par-72,
6,239-yard Pelican Preserve and Country Club's Egret to Ibis course.
"I thought we turned in a much better performance today and I was happy
that with our efforts we were able to leap a few teams in the final standings,"
Drake head coach Leanne Smith
commented. "Hadley (Jennings) played very well and I was happy with
her finish. I also was pleased
with the effort of Chelsey (Falk), and Paige (Menze) for coming back with a
good round."
The Bulldogs concluded the tournament with a three-day total of 920
(331-325-320=920) on the strength of Drake's lowest score (320) of the event.
Jennings wrapped up action tied for 21st with a 54-hole total of 231 (77-76-78=231/T-21st).
Rounding out the Bulldogs' top four were Falk and seniors Paige Menze (Oxbow, N.D.) and Christy Wittmer (Hampton, Iowa), who turned in tournament
totals of 237 (80-79-78=237/T-46th), 251 (85-85-81=251/T-70th) and 257 (89-85-83=257/75th),
respectively.
The Bulldogs resume action opening their spring campaign at the
Jackrabbit Invitational (March 12-13, 2012) in Primm, Nev.
"We're looking forward to working on improving our games over the winter
and coming out strong in the spring," said Smith.
