The Drake University rowing team finished a successful
day at the 18th annual Quad Cities Classic Saturday in Moline, Ill. The
Bulldogs won both women's eight races, including the Open Eight, amidst a
record field of entrants on the Mississippi River.
Kat Moore, Susan Goulette, Jessica NightserBrittany
Michael, Madi Perington, Brittney Smith, Kristina Vann and Mallory Bonstrom won
the Open Eight race with a time of 15:20.00. The team finished a full 34
seconds before Washington crossed the line for second place.
Drake's Novice Eight team (Margaret Benhart, Megan Friel,
Samantha Williams, Sarah Travis, Brianna Leinon, Wenel Jais-Cross, Tessa
Betchwars and Emily Householter) won in a time of 16:24.00 and finished a full
minute ahead of North Park's second-place boat.
In total, Saturday's showing on the Mississippi proved to
be a successful day for Drake crew.
