The Basics
Drake Rowing is set to compete in the Lubbers Cup on Saturday, April 4 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Racing will begin with heats from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by finals from 1:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Head Coach Charlie DiSilvestro on the Race
"We're excited for this weekend because we'll be seeing some new teams that we haven't faced yet this year, but likely will later in the season. I've been telling the team this will be a really good benchmark for where we are and a way to measure our progress.
Because we're such a young group, we expect to keep improving a lot throughout the season, so this will be our first real challenge. The conditions are going to be tough — rainy, windy, and cold — but it's the same for everyone. We're looking forward to competing against some strong opponents and continuing to grow as a team."
Bulldog Boats
The Bulldogs will race a first varsity eight, a varsity four, a novice eight, and a novice four.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs opened their spring season with a strong performance in a head-to-head race against Wichita State, sweeping all four races. Drake claimed victories in the novice four, novice eight, varsity four, and varsity eight, building early confidence heading into the Lubbers Cup.
