Drake Nets 5-2 Victory Over Chicago State For Third-Consecutive Win

DES MOINES, IOWA - The Drake women's tennis team posted its third consecutive victory netting a 5-2 triumph over Chicago State on Saturday (Feb. 26) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

With only four available players for the Cougars, Drake needed only to take one doubles match in order to claim the point, but the Bulldogs were unable to accomplish that feat as Chicago State registered a pair of wins to garner a 1-0 lead.

In singles, Drake was spotted two points after collecting default victories at the bottom two positions to assume a 2-1 advantage.

The Cougars evened the affair at two after Dian Mayasari bested sophomore Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia) at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1.

Junior Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) put the Bulldogs ahead to stay claiming the triumph on court four, 6-1, 6-0, over Peggy Moore.

Freshman Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) clinched the match for Drake downing Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno at No. 3, 6-2, 6-4.

Drake also claimed wins at the No. 2 slot from junior Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.), 5-7, 6-0, 6-3, versus Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno.

The Bulldogs return to action later this afternoon as Drake hosts UMKC at 2:00 p.m. at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
