ORLANDO, FLA. - Equaling its win total for the entire 2010 campaign, the
Drake women's tennis team registered a 4-3 victory past Bucknell in the
Bulldogs' morning match on Friday (March 18) to post their seventh win of the
year.
Drake swept the doubles competition with the tandem of
junior Earlynn Lauer (Wichita, Kan.) and freshman Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) securing the
doubles point following the duo's 8-6 triumph at No. 3 over Dara Dwojewski and
Elena Vidrascu.
The Bison took the opening singles match before juniors Gabriela Demos
(Chesterfield, Mo.) and Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) posted wins at the Nos. 3 and
4 positions, respectively, to give Drake a 3-1 lead.
Bucknell earned the victory at No. 1 to cut the deficit to
3-2 before Rebol bested Dumitrita Lepuras, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 to clinch the triumph for
the Bulldogs.
