PEORIA, Ill. - Notching its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the campaign, the Drake women's tennis team registered a 6-1 triumph at Bradley on Sunday (April 10).

The Bulldogs garnered the doubles point on the strength of an 8-3 decision by junior Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.) and senior Jessica Labarte (Barcelona, Venezuela) at the No. 2 position against Meredith McDonagh and Ashley Roth.

The Braves, who were playing with only five available players, defaulted at No. 6 singles to provide Drake a 2-0 lead entering singles action.

Freshman Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) extended the margin to within one point of victory for the Bulldogs downing McDonagh at No. 3, 6-0, 6-2.

Earning the deciding tally at the No. 5 slot was junior Earlynn Lauer (Wichita, Kan.), who bettered Brigitte Graf, 6-2, 6-2.

Also securing victories for Drake was sophomore Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia) along with Aragon and sophomore Ali Patterson (Overland Park, Kan.) at the Nos. 1, 4 and 6 positions, respectively.

Drake returns home for the first time in nearly three weeks when the Bulldogs host Evansville next Saturday (April 16) at Roger Knapp Tennis Center starting at 1:00 p.m.
