Bulldogs Win Fourth Straight Downing Creighton, 6-1

DES MOINES, Iowa - Registering its fourth-consecutive triumph, the Drake women's tennis team improved to 10-1 on the campaign at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center dispatching of Creighton, 6-1, on Friday (April 22).

The two sides split the doubles contests at the Nos. 2 and 3 slots before the tandem of junior Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) and sophomore Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia) clinched the deciding tally for Drake with an 8-4 victory over Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder at the No. 1 position.

In singles, Krizman and junior Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.) staked the Bulldogs to a 3-0 advantage after recording wins at the Nos. 1 and 5 holes, respectively.

Aragon defeated Sarah Cadwallader, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5, while Krizman bested Kirshenbaum at the top slot, 6-1, 6-2.

Within seconds of Krizman's triumph, Drake earned the decision in the match, as senior Jessica Labarte (Barcelona, Venezuela) downed Leesa Cadwallader at No. 6, 6-3, 6-1.

Rounding of the win total for Drake was freshman Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) and junior Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) at the Nos. 1 and 4 positions, respectively.

The Bulldogs conclude their home slate hosting Wichita State on Saturday (April 23). Match time at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center is slated for 12:00 p.m.
