WEST LAFAYETTE,
Ind. - Picking up
where they left off last season when the duo posted a 13-3 record, the tandem
of juniors James McKie (Edinburgh, Scotland) and Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia) notched a
doubles crown for the Drake men's tennis team in second-day action at the
Purdue Fall Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 17).
Erasmus and McKie
claimed the title in the 'A' doubles flight after besting Pablo Olivarez and
Ross Vanderploeg of Western Michigan, 8-5. The Drake duo had earlier downed Zeyad Montasser and Nadin
Indre, also of Western Michigan, 8-2.
In 'B' consolation
doubles action, the tandem of senior Cesar Bracho (Luque, Paraguay) and junior Ryan Drake (Hilton Head
Island, S.C.) split a pair of matches.
On the singles court,
each of the four Bulldogs of McKie, Erasmus, Bracho and Drake won their first
matches, respectively, before falling in their second tilts of the afternoon.
Drake returns to
