DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake head women's golf coach Leanne Smith has announced the signing of prep standout Arianna Gastelum (Chula Vista, Calif./Francis Parker School) to a national letter of intent to join the Bulldog program for the 2013-14 academic year.

"We are extremely excited for Arianna to join our team next fall," Smith commented.  "She brings a great deal of playing experience to the squad on the course and is a very good student in the classroom. We are enthusiastic about what our signees add to our team for next year and I firmly believe they are a great fit for both our program and Drake University."

A three-time all-conference selection at Francis Parker, Gastelum earned a top-20 finish at the Mary Cave Cup last August on the strength of a 36-hole total of 156, including a final-round 75.  Gastelum also qualified for Callaway Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines in 2006, 2009 and 2010.

Gastelum joins Sarah Browning as the second student-athlete to sign a national letter of intent with Smith and the Bulldogs for the 2013-14 campaign.
