DES MOINES, Iowa - Registering
its fifth-straight victory, the 73rd-rated Drake men's tennis team posted a 7-0
triumph over Nebraska Kearney on Saturday (Feb. 11) at the Roger Knapp Tennis
Center.
The Bulldogs captured the doubles point in the affair by sweeping all three contests and never looked back en route to earning the win.
Netting the deciding tally in doubles with an 8-2 victory at the No. 3
slot was the duo of junior Ryan Drake (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and freshman Ben Mullis
(Leicestershire, England).
Contributing triumphs to stretch Drake's lead to 3-0 in singles was senior Cesar Bracho (Luque, Paraguay) and
sophomore Robin Goodman (Cambridge,
England).
In his initial singles action on the dual campaign, Bracho bested Kyle
Conzemius at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0, before Goodman downed John Steinke at No. 3, 6-1,
6-1.
Freshman Alen Salibasic
(Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina), the current Missouri Valley Conference
Player of the Week, clinched the victory for the Bulldogs registering a 6-2,
6-2 decision versus Yeswanth Nadella on court No. 2.
Drake also received wins from junior Jean Erasmus (Windhoek, Namibia), Mullis and freshman Grant Tesmer (Lincoln, Neb.) at the
Nos. 1, 4 and 6 positions, respectively.
The Bulldogs close out their five-match homestand on Sunday (Feb. 12) hosting
Northern Illinois in a 12:00 p.m. tilt at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
