LAS VEGAS, Nev. - In its second of four matches in Las
Vegas, the Drake women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback at the hands of San
Jose State on Friday (March 23) in the first of two contests on the day for the Bulldogs.
The Spartans claimed
the doubles point on the strength of victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions to
register what proved to be the deciding tally in the affair.
Extending her singles
winning streak to 20 at the top slot was junior Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia), who downed
Sabastiani Leon Chao, 6-2, 6-3.
The Bulldogs earned a
6-0, 7-6 (4) decision at No. 3, as sophomore Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) bested Erica
Medlin.
Freshman Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) rounded
out Drake's victory total registering a 7-5, 6-1 triumph past Isadora Busch at No. 4.
The Bulldogs conclude
the day's action battling Southern Utah at approximately 9:00 p.m. CT.
