Box Score MADISON, Wis. - North
Dakota State defeated the Drake University volleyball team, 3-1 in the Bulldogs
final match at the 2012 InnTowner Invitational. The Bison won with game scores
of 25-11, 28-30, 25-19 and 25-20.
Bentley Mancini
(Burnsville, Minn.), Cassie Effken
(Lincoln, Neb.) and Jadranka Tramosljanin (Ruma, Serbia) led the Bulldogs with 11 kills each. Halli Meyer (Bettendorf, Iowa) had a match-high 24 assists with 12 digs and Rebecca Brown (Bentonville, Ark.) added
17 assists. Sarah Madden (Van Meter,
Iowa) led Drake with 32 digs and Tramosljanin added 19 digs with two service
aces.
North Dakota State posted 15 kills with no errors in set one
as the Bison cruised to a 25-11 win. Tramosljanin and Mancini each had two
kills in the set for Drake.
The Bulldogs battled back from a 20-12 deficit in set two. Drake used a 10-2 run, the last point on a
Mancini kill to tie the set at 22-22. The two teams traded points after before
back-to-back kills by Effken and Tramosljanin gave the Bulldogs the set, 30-28.
North Dakota State took set three, 25-19 with 11 kills and
just one attacking error. Drake struggled to find a rhythm at the net as they
posted 10 kills with 10 attack errors.
In the fourth and final set of the match, North Dakota State
used another solid performance at the net with 11 kills and just two attack
errors. Drake posted 14 kills but had10 attack errors.
Katie Dulek
(Lenexa, Kan.) posted 10 kills and 11 total blocks (one block solo, 10 block
assists) over the weekend and was named to the all-tournament team.
Drake will open MVC action at home Friday, Sept. 14 against
Wichita State. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
