HOMEWOOD, Ill. - The Drake women's tennis team registered a 6-1 victory over Chicago State (0-2) on Friday (Jan. 25) in the Bulldogs' opening match of their dual campaign.

The Bulldogs (1-0) swept the doubles competition with the duo of freshman Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) and junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) earning the clinching tally with an 8-5 decision past Karyn Emeralda and Marnie Perez-Ochoa at the No. 1 position.

Drake stretched its advantage to within one point of victory after singles wins from Eggleston and fellow freshman Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium).

Eggleston bested Ruta Grinvalde at No. 5 before Van Genechten registered a 6-4, 6-3 triumph past Viviene Noel at the No. 4 slot.

The Cougars collected a victory at No. 1 before sophomore Amanda Dick (Kenosha, Wis.) clinched the decision in favor of the Bulldogs with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Sabrine Navarro on the No. 6 court.

Drake also garnered triumphs at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions from Rebol and freshman Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) to account for the final 6-1 margin.

The Bulldogs closes out their weekend road swing with a 12:30 p.m. tilt versus Bowling Green on Saturday (Jan. 26).
