DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake head men's golf coach Matt Lewis has announced a challenging six-tournament schedule for
2013 that will culminate at the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf
Championship.
"I am very excited
about our spring schedule," Lewis
commented. "We will get an opportunity to play challenging courses against
quality opponents. Many of our tournaments will be the same as last
spring, which I hope will benefit the guys. They should feel very
comfortable knowing the courses. One change to our schedule is the
addition of the University of Missouri Intercollegiate in April.
Ultimately, we will be tested from the beginning of the schedule all the
way up until the conference championship."
The Bulldogs get
their spring underway at the Big Four Championship (Feb. 16) in Phoenix,
Ariz. Drake will open the event against Iowa, before facing either Iowa
State or Northern Iowa.
The Bulldogs
follow with a trip to Primm, Nev., to compete at the Jackrabbit Invitational
(March 11-12) hosted by South Dakota State.
Drake rounds out March
playing at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William and Mary (March
24-26) in Williamsburg, Va.
Two weeks later
the Bulldogs travel to Columbia, Mo., to partake in the C.O.G. Mizzou
Intercollegiate (April 8-9).
In its
next-to-last event of the spring, Drake visits West Lafayette, Ind., to compete
in the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue (April 20-21).
The Bulldogs
round out their spring campaign playing for the MVC title and NCAA Tournament
berth at the MVC Championship (April 29-30) in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
