KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior Connor Steele (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and junior Dane Worley (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) carded identical final-round 73's pacing the Drake men's golf team to a 908 (302-304-302) scorecard at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate hosted by UMKC on Tuesday (Oct. 15) at the Milburn Golf and Country Club.
“I was happy for Connor (Steele) putting together a good tournament for us,” Drake head coach Matt Lewis commented. “Dane (Worley) turned in a nice bounce-back round today, but we were just one or two scores away from having a really good day.”
Steele concluded his day with the Bulldogs' low effort of the tournament shooting a 54-hole score of 220 (73-74-73) to tie for 12th place.
Sophomore Will McDonald (Tulsa, Okla.) edged out redshirt junior Devin Leland (Huxley, Iowa) teammate by one stroke in the final standings following his final-round 76. McDonald concluded the tournament with a 230 (78-76-76/T-51st) ledger, while Leland posted a 231 (73-78-80/T-55th) total.
Closing the final 18 holes with a 73, Worley registered a 233 (81-79-73) scorecard. Rounding out Drake's efforts was senior Matt Ohl (Milford, Iowa) with a 54-hole total of 235 (78-76-81/T-71st).
The Bulldogs close out the tournament portion of their campaign traveling to Powells Point, N.C., to compete in the Outer Banks Intercollegiate hosted by Old Dominion this Sunday (Oct. 20) though Tuesday (Oct. 22).
