OMAHA, Neb. - In a renewal of former Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer rivals, Creighton (8-6-2) recorded goals in both halves en route to registering a 2-0 triumph past Drake (8-6-3) on Wednesday (Oct. 30).
Eric Dejulio scored the game's first goal connecting on a header in front of the box to beat a diving Drake redshirt freshman goalkeeper Darrin MacLeod (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) at the 15:52 mark. The tally came off a corner kick by Timo Pitter.
Shots were at a premium in the game's early going as the Bulldogs didn't record their first shot until the 21:08 mark when redshirt junior Logan North (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) connected on a shot on goal.
Creighton registered a 6-2 advantage in shots in the initial stanza, including 4-1 on goal.
Christian Blandon extended the Bluejays' lead to 2-0 with his third goal of the season in the 57th minute (56:16).
Creighton posted a 13-4 margin in shots in the contest, led by three from Bruno Castro. Four different Bulldogs recorded a shot apiece.
MacLeod collected a game-high three saves for Drake, while Connor Sparrow pulled in two stops for the Bluejays.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday (Nov. 3) with a 1:00 p.m. tilt at UIC (Illinois at Chicago).
