DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake
women's tennis team evened its ledger at 4-4 on the campaign after dispatching
Green Bay, 7-0, on Saturday (Feb. 23) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs cultivated a 1-0 lead in the affair on the strength of a sweep of doubles
action. Securing the doubles tally
for Drake was the tandem of senior Ali
Patterson (Overland Park, Kan.) and junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia), who bested Stephanie Londre and
Rachael Menos at No. 3, 8-2.
Rebol pushed the margin to 2-0 in singles downing Amanda Timm at No. 1,
6-2, 6-0.
Sophomore Nell Boyd
(Arlington Heights, Ill.) extended Drake's lead to 3-0 after registering a 6-2,
6-1 decision past Samantha Iwen at the No. 5 position.
Sophomore Amanda Dick
(Kenosha, Wis.) gave the Bulldogs the victory at No. 6 following her team-leading third
match-clinching point of the season, 6-2, 6-0, over Eleanor O'Brien.
Drake also received triumphs at the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 slots courtesy of
freshmen Lea Kozulic (Varazdin,
Croatia), Jordan Eggleston
(LaQuinta, Calif.) and Evy Van Genechten
(Antwerp, Belgium).
Kozulic netted a 6-4, 6-0 win against Londre at No. 2, before Van
Genechten edged Rebecca Nelson on the No. 4 court, 6-2, 6-2. Eggleston rounded out the match for the
Bulldogs with a 6-4, 6-4 victory versus Maria Anderson at No. 3.
Drake will close out its weekend traveling to Lawrence, Kan., for a
12:00 p.m. showdown versus Kansas on Sunday (Feb. 24).
