Drake staked itself to an early 1-0 advantage after posting victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions to claim the doubles tally.  Clinching the point with an 8-6 decision past Haley Fournier and Anastasija Trubica on the No. 2 court was the duo of freshmen Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.) and Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia).

Junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Fournier to extend Drake's lead to 2-0.

The Jayhawks halted the Bulldogs' energy earning wins in the final five matches to account for the 5-2 decision.

Freshman Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium) had an opportunity to thwart the momentum in her affair at No. 3 versus Maria Belen Ludeuna, but she was unable to capture the first-set tiebreaker en route to falling, 7-6 (5), 7-5.

Freshman Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) took the initial set, 6-4, in her showdown with Paulina Los at No. 4, but the advantage swung back in favor of Los, who took the final two frames, 6-3 and 6-3, to claim the victory.

Drake returns to action next Saturday (March 2) hosting Central Arkansas and Northern Illinois at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.  Match times are slated for 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
