TULSA, Okla. – Senior Alen Salibasic's (Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina) run for the Drake men's tennis team in the main singles draw at the Saint Francis Health Systems/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships came to an end on Friday (Oct. 3) following a three-set loss.
Salibasic dropped the initial set in his showdown versus 101st-rated Samir Iftikhar of New Mexico, 6-2, before fighting back to force a deciding third set with a 6-4 second-set triumph. In the final set, Iftikhar broke open an early stalemate en route to winning the match, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Junior Ben Lott (Newcastle, England) made the most of his opportunity in the consolation singles flight registering a 6-4, 6-4 triumph past 11th-rated Harrison Adams, the draw's top seed, of Texas A&M.
Lott returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 4) battling either 36th-ranked Florian Lakat of Mississippi State or Denys Pume from UNLV.
