COLUMBIA, Mo. - In a back-and-forth affair, the Drake women's tennis team registered a come-from-behind 4-3 victory at Missouri (5-13) on Sunday (March 16).

The Bulldogs (9-2) and Tigers each registered wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles positions to force a winner-take-all showdown on the No. 3 court.

The tandem of sophomore Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.) and senior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) gave Drake a 1-0 lead recording an 8-7 (5) triumph past Tracy Dong and Kellin Hine.

Missouri received wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 singles positions to retake the lead, 2-1.

Johnson evened the contest at two for the Bulldogs besting Rachel Stuhlmann at No. 3, 6-4, 7-6 (5).

Madison Rhyner regained the advantage for the Tigers on the strength of a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over sophomore Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) on the No. 4 court.

Sophomore Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) collected a 7-6 (7), 6-2 victory at the No. 6 position against Dong to square the contest at three.

The outcome of the match then came down to the tilt between junior Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Cassidy Spearman at No. 5. Boyd captured the initial set, 7-5, before Spearman won the second frame, 6-4. In the deciding set, Boyd sealed the triumph for the Bulldogs with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory.

Drake returns to action on Wednesday (March 19) with a 1:00 p.m. match at Rhode Island.
