Moyer Chosen As MVC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Drake women's soccer sophomore Kylynn Moyer (Omaha, Neb./Millard North) and Sam Penzenstadler of Loyola have been selected Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced on Wednesday (Sept. 17). Moyer and Penzenstadler were honored for their performances during the period of Sept. 8-14.

Now in its 16th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom.

Moyer, who maintains a 3.9 grade point average in actuarial science, turned in a solid week for the Bulldogs registering 10 saves, while owning a 0.47 goals against average en route to notching a pair of road victories.

She pulled in five saves, including three in the second half and overtime, to help Drake to a 2-1 double-overtime triumph at SIU Edwardsville last Friday (Sept. 12).

In the Bulldogs' 2-0 triumph at Western Illinois on Sunday (Sept. 14), Moyer recorded her second shutout of the season registering a game-high five saves.

On the campaign, she owns 39 saves and a 1.54 goals against average, while recording a pair of shutouts.

To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.

Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
