The Game ...
• The Drake University men's basketball team continues its Missouri Valley Conference season on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Indiana State.
• The Bulldogs are in search of their first MVC win of the season after falling, 50-47, at Loyola on Wednesday evening.
• Upstart Indiana State has been one of the early surprises in the MVC standings as the Sycamores have bolted out to a 5-0 start in MVC action to sit atop the league standings.
• In the Bulldogs' last outing, senior Gary Ricks, Jr., had one of his best outings in a Drake uniform by scoring 24 points with a career-high seven three-pointers.
• That performance tied for the most three-pointers in a game this season and the most in an MVC contest.
• Sophomore center Jacob Enevold Jensen has scored in double figures in five of the last eight games and led the Bulldogs with 13 points at Missouri State. In the loss to Wichita State he hauled in a career-high 15 rebounds along with 12 points for his second career double-double.
• Drake's freshmen have played 37.5 percent of all minutes for the Bulldogs this season and account for 34.2 percent of their points. Against UNI, the class scored 55.5 percent of Drake's points, including the team's first 15 points of the game.
• The Bulldogs' 14 losses have come to teams with a combined record of 167-73 (.689) this season.
• Additionally, four of Drake's opponents (Wichita State, Green Bay, UNI and Valparaiso) are ranked in the top six of the Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Three of Drake's opponents are also ranked in the AP Top 25.
