POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Freshman Jack Kennedy recorded a career-low on the final day of the Old Dominion University/Outer Banks Invitational to lead the Drake men's golf to an 11th-place finish on Tuesday.

“We had a nice team day and were one score away from a great day,” said head coach Matt Lewis.

Going into Tuesday, the Bulldogs were in 13th place and shot a season-low 293 on the final day to move up to 11th-place with a total a score of 894 (295-306-293). Drake was just three strokes away from cracking the top-10 in the 18-team event, while Campbell ran away with the title, scoring an 841 (267-292-282).

“I was very impressed with Jack (Kennedy) today, and coming back from yesterday showed me a lot. I know he felt bad and he did a great job forgetting about it and moving on,” said Lewis.

After being disqualified in the second round for signing a wrong score on his card, Kennedy didn't let that mistake affect him on the final round as he fired a career-low 69 (-2) to lead the charge for the Bulldogs.

“Blake (Huser) was solid all three days and Matt (Lavery) played well again,” said Lewis.

Senior Blake Huser continued his consistent play by shooting one-over par 72 for a 54-hole total score of 218 (72-74-72), good for tied for 18th. Sophomore Matt Lavery carded his second 74 of the tournament for a total score of 225 (74-77-74), while freshman Tommi Avant finished one stroke behind his teammate with a score of 226 (73-75-78). Sophomore Drew Ison, who was still battling an illness, rounded out the Bulldogs' effort with a score of 236 (76-80-80).

The ODU/OBX Invitational marked the final tournament of the fall season for the Bulldogs as they will open the spring season in February.
