ST. LOUIS – Junior midfielder Rebecca Rodgers (Peotone, Ill.) of the Drake women's soccer team was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4, the league announced Tuesday.
In Drake's lone game last week, a 2-1 win over Indiana State, Rodgers scored one goal and handed out one assist as the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in MVC play.
Rodgers is tied for the team lead in goals and assists this season with five and three, respectively. Her goal against the Sycamores is the 22nd in her career, which ranks tied for third all-time in program history.
This is the second consecutive player of the week award for Drake as junior midfielder Kayla Armstrong (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) earned the award last week. This is the third career MVC offensive player of the week accolade for Rodgers.
Drake plays at Oklahoma State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before returning to MVC play at Evansville on Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
