Men's Golf Heads To KC For Bill Ross Intercollegiate

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Drake University men's golf team returns to action on Monday at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by UMKC, at the Milburn Country Club.

The 54-hole two-day event will feature 12 teams; Air Force, Drake, Creighton, Gonzaga, Oklahoma Christian, Missouri State, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, SIU Edwardsville, UMKC, Western Illinois, and Wichita State. As well as three individuals for Kansas State, two each from UMKC and Wichita State and one each from Air Force and Missouri State for a total of 69 golfers.

The Bulldogs are coming off their best performance of the season as they shot a 894 (301-297-296) overall at the Zach Johnson Invitational, good for fifth-place.

Individually, Drew Ison shot one-over par on the final day to finish tied for 10th with a score of 220 (74-74-72). Blake Huser shot a season-low 73 (+2) in his final round for a total score of 223 (76-74-73), good for 16th place. Jack Kennedy registered a total score of 226 (75-73-78), while fellow freshman Tommi Avant posted his third straight 76, totaling 228 (76-76-76). Matt Lavery bounced back from a tough first day by firing a 75 to close out the two-day event with a 236 (80-81-75). 

The Bulldogs will wrap up the fall season at the ODU/OBX Invitational on Oct. 25-27 in Powells Point, N.C.
