DES MOINES, Iowa — The Drake University volleyball team closed its 2015 season in impressive fashion by sweeping Bradley Saturday afternoon at the Knapp Center, 3-0.

Drake (15-20, 6-12 MVC) defeated Bradley (6-24, 1-17 MVC) by set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-14.

Prior to the start of the match, Drake recognized the program's six seniors, Katie Allen, Katie Dulek, Rebecca Brown, Scarlett Howerter, Shelby Daum and Cassie Effken.

"This was a great way to close the season for our seniors – to go out with a win, do it at home and do it in three," said Drake head coach Darrin McBroom. "It's been a good season for Drake volleyball but you always want a little more. In looking back at what this class and team has done, they've advanced the program."

In her final match as a Bulldog, Katie Allen (Mokena, Ill.) recorded seven kills and hit a season-best .538. Freshmen Grace Schofield (Mundelein, Ill.) recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Kyla Inderski (Urbandale, Iowa) tallied eight kills and 11 digs, followed by junior Chandelle Davidson (Gretna, Neb.) with 15 assists and seven digs.

Bradley's Leah Sack, who currently ranks third in the Missouri Valley Conference in digs, led the team with 17, followed by freshmen Allison Turner and Erica Haslag with 10 and nine kills, respectively.

Both teams traded points to open the first set and the lead continued to move back-and-forth with four lead changes before Drake went on a 4-0 run to build up a five point lead at 10-5, that it never relinquished. The Bulldogs were able to extend their lead to ten points, winning the set 25-15. Schofield led the Bulldogs with five kills followed by Allen with three in the frame

Drake built up an eight-point lead at 16-8 in the second set, that was cut in half after a late charge from Bradley that included a 4-0 run. However, the Bulldogs were able to hang on to win the second set, 25-20.

Much like the previous two sets, the teams continued to trade points in the third set until Rebecca Brown's (Bentonville, Ark.) serving keyed an 11-2 Drake run to put the Bulldogs up, 15-5. Drake held onto the lead to defeat Bradley 25-14 in the third set.

With the win, Drake finishes the 2015 season with the most wins in a season since 2010. Next season, the Bulldogs are slated to return their top three leaders in kills and leader in digs and aces.
