Men's Basketball Travels to Bowling Green

Bulldogs aim to avenge last season's home loss to the Falcons

The Drake University men's basketball returns to the road after a week off to take on Bowling Green Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST with the contest being broadcast via ESPN3.

The Bulldogs travel to northwestern Ohio with a 4-3 overall record after collecting three wins in four games last week with wins over Western Kentucky, Pepperdine and UIC.

Earlier this week, Kale Abrahamson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week and Scholar-Athlete of the Week. He led Drake in scoring last week with 22.0 points per game on 52.7 percent shooting. In the Bulldogs' win over WKU to open the Gulf Coast Showcase, he scored a career-high 41 points to tie for the seventh most single-game points in school history and the most since the 1980-81 season. His 41-point outburst was the highest in the nation at the time and currently ranks fourth.

His scoring has jumpstarted the Bulldog offense to date. Last season, the Bulldogs scored 70 or more points just eight times all season. This season they have hit that mark in five of their seven games to date and scored 69 points in another.

Bowling Green, under first-year head coach Michael Huger is 5-2 this season and rides four-straight wins into Saturday's contest. The Falcons average 73.9 points per game this season and are led by Spencer Parker's 14.0 points per game.

Following Saturday's contest, the Bulldogs return home to host DePaul on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Knapp Center.
