DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis improved to 11-3 after beating Iowa State, 4-1, and UMKC, 7-0, on Friday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.) won their No. 2 doubles match in 20 minutes, rolling over Iowa State's Alejandra Galvis and Caroline Andersen 6-0. Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) and Tess Herder (Lee's Summit, Mo.) secured the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a 6-3 win at No. 3, while No. 1 went unfinished.

The Cyclones tied the dual up with a victory at No. 1 singles, but Drake's Adrienne Jensen (Iowa City, Iowa) earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 to give the Bulldogs the lead for good. Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) pushed her winning steak to eight matches with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6. Johnson clinched the Bulldog victory with a win at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3.

The Bulldogs took the doubles point over UMKC by earning 6-2 wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Johnson was the first off the court, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, while Herder wasn't far behind as she didn't give up a game at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0. Boyd gave the Drake its fourth point as she came away with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Drake then received wins from Jensen at No. 5, Summer Brills (North Oaks, Minn.) at No. 2 and Mariel Ante (Riverside, Calif.) at No. 1 to complete the sweep.

The Bulldogs will host Wyoming on Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
