EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The No. 2 seed Drake University women's tennis team routed No. 7 seed Missouri State 4-0 in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs didn't waste any time during doubles as No. 3 junior
Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) and freshman
Tess Herder (Lee's Summit, Mo.) blanked MSU's Rebecca McIsaac and Abbey Belote 8-0. Senior
Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and freshman
Summer Brills (North Oaks, Minn.) clinched the doubles point for Drake with a 8-3 victory at No. 2.
Drake didn't slow down in singles action as junior Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) posted an impressive 6-0, 6-0 performance at No. 5 singles. Herder rolled past McIsaac 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6, as Brills completed the Bulldog shutout with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2.
The Bulldogs will face off with No. 3 seed Northern Iowa at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals of the MVC tournament.
