Four Bulldogs Named To NFF?s Hampshire Society

IRVING, Texas – Four members of the Drake University football team have been named the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced this week. Jacob Dines (Osage Beach, Mo.), Spencer Lee (Johnston, Iowa), Drew Ormseth (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and Brett Park (Olivette, Mo.) were all named to the prestigious group that is comprised of college football student-athletes that have maintained a 3.2 or higher grade point average throughout their collegiate careers.

In addition to maintaining a level of academic excellence, being a starter or significant on-field contributor and meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards a degree is also needed for inclusion in the Hampshire Society. The group is comprised entirely of student-athletes that have met those requirements and exhausted their eligibility.

“We continue to raise the bar each year for the number of student-athletes who qualify for membership in the Hampshire Honor Society,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “The Hampshire Honor Society plays an important role in highlighting that college football players clearly play a leadership role in the classroom as well as on the playing field. We congratulate each of these young men for their commitment to excellence.”

A total of 817 student-athletes across all divisions of college football were honored with 28 coming from the Pioneer Football League.

Dines, a wide receiver, was the Bulldogs top kick returner with an average of 22.9 yards per return and had a season long 41 yards. He also caught seven passes for 67 yards. Dines was named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll five times.

Lee was Drake's kickoff specialist the entire season, and transitioned to the team's starting placekicker. He made 13-of-14 extra point attempts and also converted two field goals. He was a three-time PFL honor roll selection and was named second team Academic All-PFL in 2014.

Ormseth tallied 18 tackles and two interceptions at defensive back. He was eighth on the team in tackles with 32 in 2013. He was named second team Academic All-PFL in 2014.

Park garnered first-team All-PFL honors after making 40 stops as a redshirt senior. He was second on the team and fifth in the PFL in sacks with 5.5 and 7.5 tackles for loss. He was also named to the Academic All-PFL team.
